Asimul Islam
Dr. Asimul Islam is an associate professor at Jamia Millia Islamia, a Central University by an act of Parliament of India. He has a vast teaching experience of more than 15 years, which includes course work of Ph.D., M.Phil. (Interdisciplinary Sciences), Integrated M.Sc. in bioinformatics & biotechnology (all the 10 different semesters), M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Bioinformatics, M.Sc. Biophysics, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B. Sc. Biosciences. Apart from teaching, Dr. Islam is actively involved in research and published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, with many more under communication. He is fortunate to complete 6 major research projects, which were funded by different government agencies like DST-SERB, DBT, CSIR and UGC. He is running many research projects. 5 Ph.D. students are enrolled under him right now while other 10 Ph.D. students are working under his co-supervision. 7 M.Phil. and 7 Ph.D. students were awarded degree under his supervision. More than 50 students have completed M.Sc. dissertation and summer training under him. He has published abstracts in more than 50 conferences and delivered lectures as invited speakers at most of the premiere institutes. Dr. Islam is the co-ordinator for M.Sc. Life Sciences, which is soon going to be introduced by the university. He has coordinated two 3-Week Refresher Course in Basic Sciences (Interdisciplinary) while attended 2 such courses at academy staff college, JMI. He has organized more than 10 national and international conferences at Jamia Millia Islamia, which included National Symposium on Biophysics & Golden Jubilee Meeting of Indian Biophysical Society. Dr. Islam is a member of various national and international scientific bodies like Life member of Iran Society of Biophysical Chemistry (ISOBC), Life member of Indian Immunology Society, Life member of Society of Biological Chemists, Life member of National Magnetic Resonance Society, Life member of Indian Biophysical Society and Member of The European Peptide Society. Recently, he has been nominated as member of National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), which is one of the oldest and the most prestigious scientific body of India.
